Tasting- Wilson Daniels Merlot

Name:  Wilson Daniels Merlot
Varietal:  Paso Robles Merlot
Region:  Central Coast, California
Country:  USA
Year:  2010
Price:  $7.95

Shop Critic:  Made predominantly from Paso Robles grapes, the wine is full-bodied and silky yet robust, with aromas of black cherry and plum and a palate of blackberry, raspberry and blueberry jam laced with vanilla and toast.

My Review:  This wine had a great deep red, brick color.  The nose was full and balanced with a lot of fruity, jammy, plum-y qualities.  When I tasted this wine, the first thing that hit me were the dry, mouth-smacking tannins.  It was slightly smokey with very little fruit.  This wine was also quite bitter which my palate did not agree with it, but it was a decent wine overall.

I drank this wine on its own with no food pairings.
